ASALA organizes roundtable dialogue about enhancing participation of businesswomen in chambers of commerce

The Palestinian Businesswomen’s Association “ASALA” organized a roundtable dialogue in the Chamber of Commerce in Ramallah, to present a policy paper on enhancing the participation of businesswomen in the Palestinian chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture as members and boards of directors.

 A number of representatives of the public sector, civil society institutions, businesswomen and jurists participated in the dialogue, as the paper included the obstacles that limit women's participation in the chambers of commerce and the analysis of the reality and practical challenges faced by women in the elections of the chambers of commerce and presented the most important recommendations to enhance their participation, which will be worked on with decision makers.

The Palestinian Businesswomen’s Association “ASALA” organized a roundtable dialogue in the Chamber of Commerce in Ramallah, to present a policy paper on enhancing the participation of businesswomen in the Palestinian chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture as members and boards of directors.

 A number of representatives of the public sector, civil society institutions, businesswomen and jurists participated in the dialogue, as the paper included the obstacles that limit women's participation in the chambers of commerce and the analysis of the reality and practical challenges faced by women in the elections of the chambers of commerce and presented the most important recommendations to enhance their participation, which will be worked on with decision makers.

 The participants highlighted some of the most important outputs, the announcement of the formation of a women's advisory council in cooperation with the Ramallah Chamber of Commerce and Industry consisting of business owners, in order to enhance the voice of women in the chambers of commerce, and activating the role of women in the Federation of Chambers of Commerce.

This roundtable dialogue comes under the GROW project, which is implemented by CowaterSogema in partnership with ASALA and the Near East Foundation, with funding from the Government of Canada.
