The world during the 21st century has been rapidly shifting towards digitalization, especially in the Mediterranean Basin. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic that the world has endured for two consecutive years so far, the emphasis on digitalization became evident. The rapid shift towards a digital world is something everyone experiences daily in their live, jobs, projects and even the small outlets are taking our minds into the digital world when we need a break. Moving towards a digital world is increasingly becoming an undisputed reality
The pressing need for digitalization drove the Palestinian Businesswomen’s Association, Asala, the partner of the project in Palestine to choose the “Digital Empowerment” training to be implemented in Palestine. This training comes as a segment of the project of Social Innovation in the Agri-food sector to empower women in the Mediterranean region, InnovAgroWoMed training program. This step stems from the need created by the COVID-19 pandemic for entrepreneurs and for women in particular; to be able to keep up with the progress around them, promote their future projects and ideas leading to their empowerment, amidst a world of digital marketing, e-commerce, and digital and technological leadership that we live in today.
Realizing this need was based on the outputs the Asala Association collected from a needs survey that was conducted to identify the skills the beneficiaries need to develop their businesses. It was found that approximately 75% of beneficiaries need trainings to develop their capacities in the field of digital marketing and the use of digital and technological tools; especially considering that the world is revolving around digital skills, which everyone needs, regardless of the nature of their work.
This training, which will be within 135 hours of training, aims to develop the participants' abilities and skills in using modern technologies for marketing; especially marketing through social media, with the focus on branding, design, and advertisement. On the other hand, this training focuses on the importance of using technology in product packaging and handling, in addition to the use of the correct method of labeling and the use of modern technologies in determining quantities, checking product quality, units of measurement, sterilization, food spoilage and the causes of decomposition.
The training will also develop the participants’ skills in building marketing content for various digital marketing tools and dealing with websites, searching for platforms that enable them to develop their skills, turning their ideas into projects, marketing for their products, dealing with social networking sites, basics of design, mobile marketing, and achieving innovation.
This training will come after a series of trainings that the participants received in the field of financial literacy, awareness of societal issues and gender. Participants will also receive technical training related to food processing and dairy products.
