The Palestinian Businesswomen’s Association – Asala, represented by Executive Director Mrs. Raja’ Rantisi, and Hisham Hijjawi TVET College, represented by Dean Amer Massad, signed an MoU on August 7th, 2022, in aims of cooperation between the parties.

The meeting, held at the Collage’s headquarters in Nablus, discussed cooperation strategies between the parties to advance Asala’s “Open the Door for Me” campaign, and to agree on a work plan and joint program to be implemented in the coming phase as to encourage women to participate in ‘non-traditional’ work fields.

The MoU includes the parties’ cooperation in efforts to raise awareness within the Palestinian community, specifically in schools and universities, regarding women’s involvement in TVET and ‘non-traditional’ work sectors. This will be done by adopting an encouraging discourse that targets women and female youth and supports their participation in TVET.

The two parties will contribute to a joint media campaign that encourages young females to pursue TVET, and they will organize awareness workshops in schools and universities on the significance of this direction. They will also organize training workshops for young females in some TVET specialties.

Mrs. Raja’ Rantisi affirmed that signing this MoU stems from the framework of Asala’s diverse efforts towards empowering Palestinian women economically and socially, enabling their continuity as entrepreneurs who directly contribute to Palestinian economy, and opening doors for their presence in an array of fields.

Mr. Amer Massad welcomed this idea and the cooperation with Asala, indicating that women and female youth must be supported and encouraged to join TVET sectors. He pointed out that Hisham Hijjawi College annually enrolls female students in all different TVET fields, and affirmed that the College’s female graduates have exemplified many success stories in all fields over the years, and are present in different technical and vocational work sectors.
