The Palestinian Businesswomen’s Association – ASALA has launched a training programme for 97 women from villages northwest of Jerusalem under the project “Inclusive Economic Empowerment for Women and Women with Disabilities in the Villages Surrounding Jerusalem in the West Bank.” The programme aims to support women in developing their existing businesses or establishing sustainable enterprises that generate income.
The programme includes specialised training in business management, financial management, marketing and business planning. It will equip participants with practical knowledge and tools to manage and develop their businesses and prepare them for the subsequent stages of technical and financial support provided through the project.
The programme was launched following the completion of the application review, screening and interview process. Beneficiaries were selected according to clear and transparent criteria that reflect the project’s objectives and the needs of the target groups.
ASALA’s Executive Director, Ms. Raja Rantisi, emphasised that the programme responds to the growing need to strengthen women’s economic resilience amid the current political and economic conditions, particularly in the targeted villages. She noted that investing in women’s capacities and practical skills helps them make informed business decisions, address challenges and sustain their enterprises.
The training programme forms a key part of the project’s integrated approach, combining capacity building with technical and financial support to strengthen women’s economic participation and create sustainable employment opportunities in the targeted communities.
The project is implemented by the Palestinian Businesswomen’s Association – ASALA, funded by the World Bank, supervised by the Ministry of Finance and managed by the NGO Development Center (NDC), under the “Social Recovery and Job Creation Project.”
